Learn to Run – 5 Week Course

Have you always wanted to run but never thought you could? This program is aimed at beginner runners of all ages, shapes and abilities looking for guidance and support to start their running journey.

The program starts with a two-hour workshop where you can learn top tips for success from our physiotherapists, who are runners themselves. You then start your running journey by following the beginners walking/running program with access to your physiotherapist to guide you through the first 5 weeks. You are also encouraged to attend the Strength and Conditioning classes (included in the program price) and complete the recommended strength and stretching exercises at home to ensure success on your running journey. You will complete your 5 weeks by joining your physiotherapist at ‘Park Run’, Pakapakanthi/Victoria Park (Saturday 8am)

The program includes:

  • A two-hour practical and theoretical workshop      
  • Beginners running program diary
  • Targeted home exercise program for injury prevention
  • Access to your physiotherapist for advice and guidance
  • 2x week Strength and Conditioning classes (10 in total)
  • Graduation event at Pakapakanthi/Victoria Park ‘Park Run’  

Workshop Topics include:

  • Footwear
  • Nutrition and hydration
  • Setting SMART goals
  • Useful Apps
  • Injury screening
  • Simple baseline leg and core strength testing
  • Learn warm up and cool down exercises
  • Introduction to the training program (Running, Strength and Conditioning classes, your home program)
