Physiotherapist & Pilates Instructor
“I love all kinds of sport and fitness. My goal in life and as a physiotherapist is to ensure that there are no physical limitations to prevent anyone from doing what they love and achieving all their goals.”
About
Mel is a country girl who grew up playing lots of different sports. Her main passion was netball, but she also participated in basketball, tennis and swimming as a youngster. Through her years at university, she also dabbled in rowing, volleyball, soccer, hockey, and women’s football.
Her passion for sport eventually lead her into the field of physiotherapy after completing a Bachelor of Science at The University of Melbourne and then the Master of Physiotherapy at Flinders University. After completing her degree, she settled in Adelaide and began her career as a physiotherapist in the hospital setting. Initially for a short period at Flinders Medical Centre and then at Calvary Rehabilitation Hospital where she worked for two years in a variety of settings.
She also became heavily involved in her local football club, as head trainer for three years during her study, where she became well practised at all kinds of strapping, massage and sports injury management.
Mel’s clinical areas of interest are still quite focused around sports injury and running assessments. However, she does also have a special interest in oncology after assisting in an oncology exercise group for four months at Calvary Rehabilitation Hospital.
Mel is an avid traveller and most recently returned from a ten-month stint travelling around Europe, where she also gained some experience working in the UK hospital system. In her spare time, Mel can generally be found hiking around some of the scenic trails surrounding Adelaide or planning her next overseas adventure.
