Physiotherapist
“I feel so lucky to be a physiotherapist; it is a rewarding and exciting career that doesn’t feel like a job. I understand how important it is for our bodies to move well and Pilates is a fantastic way to achieve this. It is great to be able to help people reach their physical potential no matter what their starting point or end goal is”.
About
Born and raised in Ireland, Orla graduated in 2010 with a Bachelor of Physiotherapy degree from Trinity College Dublin. In search of a career path and new adventures, she moved to Australia later in 2010 and has been here ever since.
Orla has worked extensively in country SA, gaining rounded skills in all clinical areas of physiotherapy. Based at both the Port Augusta and Whyalla hospitals, she also serviced remote communities including Coober Pedy and Leigh Creek via the RFDS which was a real novelty having come from Ireland! Since 2014 she has worked mainly in Adelaide in the private sector including several years at the Griffith Rehabilitation hospital.
Orla has a special interest in treating spinal pain and pathology having worked as part of the Spinal Assessment clinics alongside specialists at the RAH. She also enjoys the challenge of optimising recovery and function following orthopaedic surgery. Being an avid cyclist and competitive long-distance runner, she has attended many professional development courses to help runners and cyclists manage and prevent injuries, combining taping, dry needling, biomechanical correction and exercise therapies, her true passion as a physiotherapist.
When she’s not running or riding her bike Orla can be found walking her mischievous, energetic Border Collie or planning camping trips.
