Our dance physiotherapy service offers dedicated support for dancers, helping them stay strong, injury-free, and perform at their best. With a deep understanding of dance-specific needs and a strong background in ballet, our dance physios focus on preventing injuries, building flexibility, and enhancing technique, so dancers can safely reach their full potential. We provide personalised care, whether they’re aiming to advance in dance or recovering from a setback, through hands-on therapy and custom exercise plans.
A pre-pointe assessment evaluates a dancer’s readiness to commence training en pointe. This assessment considers age, training history, pointe range, foot and ankle control, intrinsic foot and calf strength, pelvic and core control, and ballet technique. Frequently dancers will need to return after a period of time performing targeted exercises to then allow the dancer to commence pointe work. Our dance physios have ballet-specific understanding and expertise to conduct these assessments and will complete a detailed report for the dancer’s teacher.
A Tertiary Dance Assessment (as prescribed by the Tertiary Dance Council of Australia) helps to identify any areas of tightness, weakness or concern that may predispose individual dancers to injury when transitioning to study dance in a tertiary institution. Our dance physios are qualified to do this assessment in preparation for tertiary dance course applications.
To get started, book your initial dance assessment with either Kelly Homann or Rachel Combe, our dance Physio experts.
